The International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, and Transphobia (IDAHOBIT) is coming up on 17 May 2024! A day that’s all about spreading love, smashing stereotypes, and celebrating the diversity of identities within our faculty.
To celebrate IDAHOBIT this year, we – Student Support – are hosting a Rainbow Lunch and Queer Book Swap! Join us for a delicious spread of colourful fruit & veg treats and vegetarian sandwiches. Besides enjoying lunch together, you can also trade LGBTQ+ literature with fellow students!
Our Rainbow Lunch is on 17 May from 12.00 to 14.00 in the Student Living Room, and everyone’s welcome to stop by! Lunch is provided on a first come first served basis, but we hope there’ll be enough for everyone. Do join us to celebrate this important day!
And let's not forget the Queer Book Swap! The idea is that you can bring a book you’ve read that touches on a queer issue and trade it with someone else. Of course, it’s not a requirement for coming to the Rainbow Lunch, but it would be great if we could get a fun swap going. So, go through your bookshelf and bring along a good read to share with someone else!
Of course, IDAHOBIT isn't just about fun and games – it's also a time to reflect on the progress we've made and the work that still lies ahead in the fight for equality and acceptance. As we enjoy our Rainbow Lunch and check out some awesome queer reads, let's also take a moment to honour the resilience and strength of the LGBTQ+ community.
