On the commemoration of the 200 years of independence of Bolivia, the Latin American Studies programme of Leiden University will hold a lecture series. For the first lecture it’s a pleasure and a honour to welcome indigenous authority and Vice-president of Bolivia, H.E. David Choquehuanca Céspedes. He will visit Leiden University on the 4th of June and will deliver a master lecture reflecting on the Bicentennial of Bolivia and the challenges faced by the Plurinational State. Mr. Choquehuanca has a considerable professional trajectory, including the ministry of Foreign Affairs. He is a distinguished Aymara leader and internationally recognized intellectual in the field of Indigenous thought, whose theoretical contributions and extensive dissemination of the principles of Vivir Bien and the ‘Geopolitics of Living Well’ have had significant global impact

The lecture will be delivered in Spanish. Interpretation in English will be provided, also for the Q&A, so the event welcomes non Spanish speakers too.
The event will be presented and moderated by Soledad Valdivia, assistant professor of Latin American History at Leiden University.
This academic activity is organized by the Latin American Studies Programme (LAS) in collaboration with the Embassy of the Plurinational State of Bolivia in The Netherlands.
