Leiden University is celebrating its 450th anniversary and everyone’s invited. Join us on Saturday 30 August 2025 for a Stand Up Paddleboarding (SUP) and canal clean-up session on Leiden’s canals with Plastic Soup Surfer Merijn Tinga.
Whether you are a seasoned paddleboarder or a complete beginner, all students are welcome. Merijn and a team of instructors will be on hand to explain the basics and guide you through the canals.

Location: Old Observatory, Leiden
What to bring: comfortable clothes you can move freely in and that you don’t mind getting wet. A towel or dry clothes might come in handy too.
Back at the Old Observatory, we’ll enjoy a tasty lunch and reflect with Merijn Tinga on the day and what we’ve fished out of the water.
