In 2025, we celebrate a remarkable milestone: Leiden University turns 450! And for the past 25 years, we’ve been making a difference in The Hague.

This photo exhibition offers a unique glimpse into the research being carried out at Leiden University in The Hague. It features eight researchers connected by one common thread: their research has a real impact on the city and the people of The Hague.

The photographs not only show the places and people behind the research, but each image also includes a QR code linking to in-depth information. Discover what the research is about, why it matters, and what makes The Hague so special in the eyes of the researchers.

The researchers were portrayed in The Hague by photographer Wilke Geurds – at the site of their research or where their work makes a difference.

Read the eight stories of the researchers via Leiden University in The Hague - Researchers of the city.
