Leiden University and partners

We’re not doing this by ourselves. During the Weekend of Science, we’re teaming up with the Open University, Delft University of Technology and Health Campus The Hague to bring you even more knowledge than we offer on our own.

Programme

Here’s a sneak peek at some of the activities:

Haunted House by Leiden University – How brave are you? Dare to take a peek behind the walls of the unknown and listen in at our haunted house?
The Mock Courtroom by Leiden University – Step into the role of lawyer, judge, or defendant in this mini courtroom.
Hidden Treasures beneath the Binnenhof by Leiden University – In this short lecture, the city archaeologist will reveal fascinating finds uncovered during the renovation of the Binnenhof.
Crime and Punishment at the Prison Gate by Leiden University – Discover the history of crime in The Hague and this notorious prison, where people could once be convicted for fortune-telling or begging.
Twister with Organs by LUMC Health Campus The Hague – Everyone knows the game of Twister. But do you know your body and organs well enough to play it this way? Put your knowledge of the human body to the test.
Healthy Lifestyle Escape Box by LUMC Health Campus The Hague – Only by answering questions about hygiene, nutrition, and exercise correctly will you be able to escape and complete the mission!
Electronics, Impossible to Fix?! by TU Delft Science Centre – Learn how electronics work and how you can solve (or prevent) problems yourself.
Count on It! by TU Delft Institute of Applied Mathematics (DIAM) – Mathematics presented in a fun and accessible way.
Mini-lectures by the Open University, such as “The Democratic Rule of Law: What Is It?” and “What Does Green in the City Do for Our Health?” – short lectures that invite you to reflect and join the discussion.

In addition, there will be hands-on lab experiments, fun activities with chemistry and light, robotics in Minecraft, and much more for both young and old.

This is just a glimpse of a special collaboration: in January, we are opening a new building in the centre of The Hague that we will share with the Open University, Delft University of Technology, the LUMC and the Universities of the Netherlands. The Weekend of Science offers a first look at this unique knowledge and research cluster.
