Swiping, matching and chatting: dating apps have become an integral part of student life. A quick bit of Tinder between lectures or on the train may seem harmless, but online intimacy also has its risks.
Where is the line between flirting and inappropriate behaviour? What if someone shares intimate photos of you without your consent or harasses you online? And more importantly, how can we better protect ourselves and each other from abuse, unwanted or inappropriate behaviour online? Swiping is easy; setting boundaries or talking about abuse is not always.
Join us for a panel discussion where we will talk to experts and people with personal experience about the opportunities and downsides of love in the digital age. Together, we will discover how we can create a safer online dating culture.
Panel members
- Stefano Hennevelt: expert by experience, shares his personal story of experiencing online sexual abuse.
- Nathalie Franse: policy advisor at Victim Support Fund, specialising in (online) sexually transgressive behaviour and sexual abuse.
- Erinne Paisley: PhD at the University of Copenhagen, specialising in topics such as online dating practices and the effects of digitalisation on love and intimacy. She is currently working on the book “Love, Sex, and the Technologies That Shape Them”.
- Michael O'dea (moderator): health and medical psychologist with a keen interest in innovative sexual health programmes and coordinator at MenAsWell.
