Abstract

In the past decade, more and more Chinese pharmacies across Taiwan have closed their doors. It can be because of modernization, government regulation, or changing lifestyles. But perhaps, the real question we should ask is: What does this tell us about how Taiwanese society sees traditional Chinese medicine today? In this talk, the current situation of TCM in Taiwan will be discussed— the challenges it faces, the transformations it’s going through, and how social recognition will determine its path forward.
