Leiden Law School’s research programme ‘Reform of Social Legislation’ has invited top economist Gabriel Zucman to give a lecture on Monday 2 February 2026 about his research on inequality and taxing the highest incomes, entitled: 'Taxing the ultra-rich: public finance in an age of extreme inequality'.

Gabriel Zucman is an economics professor at the Paris School of Economics and UC Berkeley, as well as Director of the EU Tax Observatory. In 2023, he won the John Bates Clark Medal, awarded by the American Economic Association to an economist under the age of 40 who has made a significant contribution to economic thought and knowledge.  

This event is also a great opportunity to visit Leiden University’s new Spui building in The Hague. The lecture is from 17.00 to 17.45, followed by drinks until 18.30.
