On May 8th the Lorentz Zaal will be transformed to a Film Festival, with a few screenings of short films. Are you interested in film and how people, and their relations, are shaped by conflict, repression, displacement and political violence? Join us!
After the screening there will be a panel discussion with experts in law. We will reflect on the personal cost of political violence, human rights, and the possibilities and limitations of legal response.
Programme
Short films
After a short introduction, you will view three short films from Iranian, Venezuelan and Lebanese filmmakers:
- Daria's Night Flowers (2025, Iran)
- And still, it remains (2023, Algeria; United Kingdom)
- Last Seen, Long Time Ago (2026, Venezuela)
Panel discussion + Q&A
After the films there will be a panel discussion with a Q&A with lecturers professor Henning Lahmann and professor Helen Duffy. As experts in humanitarian law they will help contextualize these works from international law and human perspective.
Borrel
After the programme there will be a borrel.
