Four entrepreneurs show how a humanities background can open unexpected doors.

What do modern humanities entrepreneurs look like? Come and find out — and leave inspired by the many ways a humanities background can lead to creative, innovative, and entrepreneurial careers.
What can you actually do with a background in the humanities? More than is often assumed.

On 25 June, we warmly invite students, PhD candidates, postdocs, staff members, and anyone else interested to join us for an inspiring afternoon on entrepreneurship from within the humanities.

During this event, four speakers with backgrounds in the humanities will discuss how they translated their academic knowledge and humanities skills into entrepreneurial careers and projects. From publishing and literary management to historical storytelling, game design, and education, the central question of the afternoon is how skills such as critical thinking, imagination, analysis, language, and cultural understanding prove to be immensely valuable far beyond the university.

Speakers

Manon Verhagen — co-founder of Bot Uitgevers
Michaël Roumen — founder of Roumen Literair Management
Theo Pronk — founder of History 5D
Caroline Archambault — game designer, researcher, and educator working at the intersection of storytelling, culture, and interactive media

The afternoon will consist of short presentations and conversations, with plenty of room for questions, discussion, and networking. There will be drinks afterwards.
