This event marks the publication of Statelessness and Citizenship Revocation in Europe (De Gruyter Brill, 2026), edited by Salvador Santino Regilme.
Bringing together scholars from political science, international law, and sociology, the volume examines how statelessness and citizenship revocation are reshaping questions of political membership, security, and human rights across Europe. Its contributions explore contemporary cases in which citizenship has become increasingly conditional, contested, and vulnerable to withdrawal, particularly in the context of counterterrorism, migration, and minority exclusion. The launch will feature the book’s editor and chapter contributor, Dr. Salvador Santino Regilme (Institute for History, Leiden University), together with contributor Dr. Ramesh Ganohariti (Institute of Security and Global Affairs, Leiden University). Professor Dimitry Kochenov (Central European University) will join the discussion as commentator.
The discussion will consider the wider implications of citizenship revocation and statelessness for democratic belonging, political exclusion, human dignity, and the future of rights in Europe. The book launch will be followed by a public lecture and discussion with Professor Dimitry Kochenov from 18:15 to 19:30.
