About this lecture

This lecture examines how individuals and groups become complicit in or tacitly support violence. Drawing on theoretical perspectives on denial, moral disengagement, and the implicated subject, students will explore how social norms, networks, and bystander behaviours shape both action and inaction. The session connects theory to empirical examples, fostering analytical skills to understand how violence is reproduced and maintained in social contexts.
