Management changes within Luris
Luris supports and advises researchers and societal partners with knowledge transfer, research impact, grant applications and public-private partnerships. The organisation structure of Luris will change in the coming period to better respond to the needs of our researchers and the societal playing field. A number of staff changes in the Luris management have taken place with effect from 5 October.
Following the announcement in September of the proposed transition of Luris, the planning of the reorganisation is now well underway. The Executive Board (CvB) of Leiden University and the Executive Board (RvB) of the LUMC are working closely together with the quartermaster, Professor H. Irth, to formulate the details of the transition.
Rob Mayfield left his position as interim director on 5 October and has also left the Luris organisation. He will continue his career within the University’s holding company, where he will work with start-up companies.
Steef Blok has taken over as interim director at Luris. In his long career he has managed a number of university technology transfer organisations. For the past ten years he has been General Manager of the Innovation Lab at Eindhoven University of Technology. Steef Blok combines a background as a business administration specialist and economist with extensive experience and expertise in knowledge transfer. Steef Blok will manage Luris during the transition period, after which he will continue as interim director of the Leiden University office.
Diederik Engbersen has recently joined the LUMC, where he will be interim director of the planned Luris office at the LUMC. He brings with him a wealth of knowledge as a manager with broad international experience, as well as a business development background in growing and innovative (international) academic and business organisations.
Both managers will work closely with the quartermaster and will advise the CvB and the RvB on the structural changes within Luris and the attendant change processes.
