Lodewijk Govaerts new member of Board of Governors
Lodewijk Govaerts has been appointed by Ingrid van Engelshoven, caretaker Minister of Education, Culture and Science (OCW), as a member of the Board of Governors of Leiden University.
Govaerts has been appointed with effect from 1 December 2021 for a term of four years. He succeeds C.M.L. (Cateautje) Hijmans van den Bergh, who has held the position since 1 December 2013 and will stand down on 1 December 2021.
Lodewijk Govaerts is an experienced director and governor in the financial world and he has a strong international profile. His experience also covers such areas as governance issues, digitalisation, real estate and sustainability. He is currently Managing Partner at CNX Transaction Partners, a financial consultancy that advises on acquisitions in digitalisation, and is also commissioner on behalf of the Asian Development Bank for Indonesia Infrastructure Finance. In this role he is engaged with amalgamating sustainability with financial results.
The University Council and the chair of the Board of Governors, Ab van der Touw, are delighted with Govaerts' appointment: ‘Lodewijk is an experienced director and governor with a strong international profile. Besides his financial expertise, he will also contribute his experience in the areas of real estate, sustainability and governance, which makes him ideally suited to play a role in the Audit Committee of the Board of Governors.'
