This summer, the Faculty of Humanities is once again offering a wide range of summer schools for staff and students. From acting to Indian linguistics: there is something for everyone.

Global History in the 2020s, 27 – 29 June

This summer school for PhD candidates is organized by the European Network in Universal and Global History (ENIUGH) and precedes the 7th European Congress on World and Global History (29 June – 1 July 2023, hosted by Leiden University’s Institute for History). PhD candidates are invited to present ongoing research exploring relations, transfers, and entanglements between actors or groups of actors in different regions of the world.

Summer School in Languages and Linguistics, 10 – 24 July

This summer school offers a varied program of specialised courses in Descriptive linguistics, in Chinese, Germanic, Indo-European, Indian, Iranian, and Semitic languages and linguistics, as well as a number of introductory linguistic courses.

Summer Academy for Historical Acting, 28 – 30 juli

The Historical Acting Summer Academy, taught by historical actor Jed Wentz, gives students the chance to focus on the basic techniques of acting 1750-1850. The summer school offers students the chance to focus on the basic techniques of acting 1750-1850 and will focus on learning how to work effectively with original sources.

Philology and Manuscripts from the Muslim World, 21 augustus – 1 september

This summer school is for graduate (MA and PhD) students and researchers who have an interest in handwritten materials, editing, and the tradition of editing in the Muslim world. It offers theoretical lectures as well as hands-on practice with samples from the world-famous collections of the Leiden University Library.
