Lunch meeting on the rise of AI and challenges for governance
Students and researches from all faculties at Leiden University are warmly invited to a lunch meeting on Monday 25 March, discussing the rise of AI and the challenges this poses for various governance structures. The event is hosted by Leiden University’s interdisciplinary programmes GTGC and SAILS.
In an increasingly interconnected world, the rapid advancement of artificial intelligence (AI) brings about profound challenges to global governance. While AI technologies transformed personal lives and societies with unprecedented convenience and opportunities, its rapid development challenges existing governance structure in many areas and not limited to ethical, legal, geopolitical, and societal.
Roundtable
This roundtable brings together experts from the Leiden interdisciplinary research programmes Society, Artificial Intelligence and Life Sciences (SAILS) and Global Transformations and Governance Challenges (GTGC). They will be joined by colleagues from the Hague Center for Digital Governance. Panelists will discuss how AI technologies being used in various fields, what (global) governance challenges they raise, and how they are being handled at various levels. The roundtable will begin with presentations of panelists, moderated conversations, followed by Q&A.
