Internship Opportunities Grotius Centre for International Legal Studies

Are you interested in public international law and eager to gain hands-on experience? The Grotius Centre for International Legal Studies is looking for enthusiastic interns to support the with the organization and coordination of its 2026 activities. This includes but is not limited to events such as the Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition (Dutch Qualifying Rounds), Telders International Law Moot Court Competition, the IBA International Criminal Court Moot Court Competition, and our Grotius Summer Schools (Duke-Leiden Institute in Global and Transnational Law, International Arbitration Training Course, International Humanitarian Law in Theory and Practice, and International Criminal Law: From Theory to Practice). Position overview

As an intern, you will primarily support our Project Managers with a range of organizational and administrative tasks. This role provides excellent opportunities for professional development, knowledge building, and networking within the field of public international law.

Internship Positions Available

  • 3 Full-Time Interns (02 February – 31 July 2026)
  • 1 Part-Time Intern (05 January 2026 – 31 July 2026)

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with logistics for the Centre’s activities, including moot court competitions and summer courses.
  • Provide day-to-day administrative support, such as responding email inquiries, creating promotional content, preparing materials for students and participants, and maintaining databases.
  • Maintain communication with various stakeholders involved in these activities.
  • Manage social media platforms (Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram).
  • Attend and support on-site activities.

Skills and requirements

  • Enrolled for the duration of the internship in a Bachelor’s or Master’s Programme. This is a strict requirement. Enrolled students who have deferred their start date are also eligible.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills in English.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and able to handle multiple tasks.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to work in-person at our office in The Hague throughout the duration of the internship. Please note that May-July 2026 are the months in which most activities will take place, and as such in-person work will be necessary during this time.
  • Experience in project management is a plus.
  • Experience managing social media accounts is a plus.
  • Familiarity with design tools like InDesign, Canva, or Photoshop is a plus.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills in a second language (Spanish, Portuguese, French, Arabic or Dutch) is a plus.
