Municipal elections: visit these debates in The Hague

A number of election debates will be taking place in the run-up to the municipal elections on 18 March 2026. Leiden University and its partners in The Hague are also organising several initiatives that give students and staff the chance to exchange ideas with local politicians about the city’s future.

The Hague City Centre Election Debate

The city centre is the beating heart of The Hague. It’s where residents make their homes, visitors explore and entrepreneurs invest and work. At the same time, the city centre is in a period of major change: shifting shopping habits, new forms of mobility and different patterns of living and working call for new choices and a clear political vision.

Representatives from 11 political parties will discuss key issues during the election debate on Tuesday 2 March. Led by Frits Huffnagel, they will share their ideas on a future-proof city centre and the decisions required to achieve this. Everyone with an interest in The Hague city centre – from students and staff to business owners and residents – is invited to join.

Date: Monday 2 March 2026
Place: Spui Campus, Spui 5, The Hague
Organisers:
Stichting Binnenstadsmanagement Den Haag
