Discover the world of life sciences at Dutch Bio Science Week
Curious about what goes on at the Leiden Bio Science Park? During Dutch Bio Science Week (27 June - 5 July), organisations across the park will open their doors. For nine days, Leiden will be dedicated to life sciences and health, with activities for all.
The programme offers something for everyone. Students and job seekers can explore the sector from inside and connect with researchers, professionals and potential employers. And professionals can attend events such as TechTalk XL, which this year focuses on cell and gene therapy. The Open Day offer a rare opportunity to visit labs and buildings that are normally closed to the public.
Open Day
A few highlights: the Hortus botanicus will show its collection of medicinal plants, revealing the origins of many medicines. The Science Route will take visitors on a journey through four centuries of scientific discoveries in Leiden. On the Open Day, the Faculty of Science, the LUMC, Naturalis Biodiversity Center, CORPUS and other companies and organisations at the Bio Science Park will open their doors.
Leiden University has strong ties with Leiden Bio Science Park. Several of its research and teaching facilities are there, and the university actively contributes to the park’s development into an area where living, studying and innovation come together. Researchers and students from the university are part of the network that is opening its doors to the public during Dutch Bio Science Week.
Health solutions
The Bio Science Park brings together the entire chain of life sciences: from fundamental research and teaching to healthcare, entrepreneurship and drug development. Laboratories, universities, research institutes, museums and businesses are located close to one another. Dutch Bio Science Week highlights how these partners work together in Leiden to develop new knowledge and health solutions.
