Leiden University values participation: the participation organs are the ears and eyes of the university. They identify issues of concern among staff and students and help advise and decide on the future of our organisation. Something for you? Then stand as a candidate! This year, elections will be held for the student section of the University Council, all Faculty Councils and the LUMC Student Council. The staff section holds elections of the University Council, the Faculty Council of Behavioural Sciences and the employee councils of SOZ, ICLON and Bestuursbureau.

University Council
The University Council keeps a critical eye on the Executive Board, offers solicited and unsolicited advice and helps decide on important issues. It deals with issues that directly affect you, such as sustainability, new buildings and the quality of our teaching.

Faculty councils
The faculty council plays an intermediary role between the different parts of the faculty. It has the right to consent and advise on all sorts of faculty matters. It also represents students and staff and is a sounding board for the faculty board.

Employee councils
Employees can vote for their employee council this year. It promotes the welfare and interests of employees and serves as a body for consultation, information, communication and advice.
