Application conditions
Continuation of the LSC scholarship is not guaranteed when a student changes his or her degree programme during the study programme. Requests will be reviewed case by case and the final decision will be taken by the Faculty’s selection committee.
The LSC scholarship is granted for the academic year as specified in the decision letter and cannot be transferred to another academic year or to a next intake within the same academic year. In case a student has been awarded a LSC for the September intake and decides to postpone his/her participation in the study programme, the LSC will be revoked. Requests will be reviewed case by case and the final decision will be taken by the Faculty’s selection committee.
Obligations
- The student needs to obtain at least 50% of the curriculum in the first study year in order to retain the right to receive the LSC scholarship for the following academic year. The Faculty’s selection committee will measure if the progress is satisfactory.
- The student must comply with Dutch visa regulations. The Faculty’s selection committee should be notified a.s.a.p. of any change in nationality and/or type of residence permit throughout the study period.
- If the student terminates the study prematurely, any requests for reimbursement on tuition fees will be made to Leiden University and analogues to the “Regeling inschrijving, college- en examengeld” for the applicable academic year. The student should submit the de-registration form to Leiden University. If applicable, the student will subsequently receive a reimbursement of the tuition fee less the scholarship on a pro rata basis.
Exclusions
- It is not possible to combine the LSC with another scholarship financed by Leiden University, for example the Leiden University Excellence Scholarship Programme (LExS) and Astronomy tuition fee waivers.
- It is not possible to combine the LSC scholarship with scholarships which are provided on a bilateral agreement with educational institutions, or any other scholarship which might be provided or sponsored by Leiden University in the near future.
- The student should notify the Faculty’s selection committee, when another scholarship of Leiden University has been awarded and which scholarship has been accepted. Contact: scholarships@science.leidenuniv.nl
Scholarship amount and timeframe
