Eligibility, Conditions, Renewals and Selection Criteria

In order to be eligible for financial support, you must:

  • Have applied for a place at LUC and have been admitted/or you are a currently enrolled student at LUC.
  • Demonstrate clearly that you are in financial need and cannot afford studying at LUC without our support.
  • Not have obtained another Bachelor’s or Master’s degree yet.
Selection Criteria

Financial need differs from one situation to the other depending on many factors. However as a guideline, you will be unlikely to receive support if your parents’ combined income is higher than 45,000 Euro gross per year while you have EU/EEA nationality and are the only child in your family enrolled in higher education. Also, if your financial need is so high that even with the maximum support LUC can offer it will not be feasible for you to attend the program, you will be less likely to receive support. Of course, you can always apply.

There are usually more applications for financial support than can be funded. Financial support applications are thus assessed on a competitive basis. As this is a need-based program, we look at demonstrated need first, while merit-based aspects (academic excellence and motivation) are taken into account when the number of applications exceeds the possibilities of the financial support budget. We look at the following in order of importance:

  • Clearly demonstrated need, supported by documentation and a clear and realistic budget overview. Applications that do not convincingly demonstrate financial need, and applications that show an unrealistic budget or no budget at all, will not be considered.
  • Demonstrated active attitude towards covering the costs of studying yourself, such as with savings, study loans, other grants or scholarships, family donations, income from side jobs, etc.
  • A motivation letter explaining why you need financial support, and what you have done or plan to do to cover the costs of studying yourself.
  • Whether you are the first in your family to pursue higher education.
  • A motivation letter about your academic results and your commitment to finish the program on time, and your motivation to study at LUC and contribute to LUC’s community.

The guidelines for the application form give more information about this. Applications that are incomplete, unclear, or have information missing cannot be taken into consideration.

Fraud

When information submitted to LUC regarding financial need or academic progress turns out to be false, LUC has the right to immediately discontinue financial support. You then also must reimburse the total amount of the financial support package already received.
