AI is playing an increasing role in education. What is the university’s approach to the opportunities and challenges around AI?

The use of (generative) AI in education, be it by students or lecturers, is increasing. This technology offers opportunities that can benefit teaching and learning but also comes with serious issues regarding privacy, plagiarism, integrity and ownership.

Leiden University is introducing 15 interfaculty themes to improve its visibility and strategic positioning. These themes can now be found on our website.

Researchers and policymakers are welcome to attend the AI & Society Conference in The Hague on Friday 23 June. The SAILS interdisciplinary research programme will be taking a nuanced look at the state of the art of AI technology. And offering fresh perspectives.

eLaw - Center for Law and Digital Technologies at Leiden University, hosted the first Horizon Europe BIAS Project co-creational workshop geared towards defining the requirements for identifying and mitigating diversity bias in AI systems used for recruitment purposes.
