Carrying out board membership activities during your studies is a great way to gain work experience. It looks good on your CV. But it also means you are likely to fall behind in your studies. Being on the board of one of Leiden’s (larger) student associations will almost certainly result in a study delay of up to one academic year.

Financial support for board membership

If you fall behind in your studies whilst carrying out board membership activities you can request financial support for student board members. This is intended for students who fall behind in their studies and who:

• carry out board membership activities for an association that is a member of the Local Chamber of Associations (PKvL),
• carry out board membership activities for a university management body or a study association, or;
• help to organise an activity that is for the benefit of all Leiden University students.
