Our student psychologists are very accessible and easy to approach. You are welcome to come by to discuss any problems you might have during consultation hours.

Note that the support offered by the student psychologists is intended primarily for full and part-time students of Leiden University, not for guests, external and prospective students, PhD candidates or alumni.

Initial assessment

After explaining your situation to the psychologist, you will discuss the best possible course of action. Sometimes one visit, a few tips and some information is sufficient. Sometimes you might be advised to follow a workshop or training course, for example in study skills or personal development. In some cases you may be offered short-term individual guidance.

The student psychologist can also give advice about referral to other organisations or professionals, if more specialist or long-term support is required. In this case you will also need a referral from your doctor.

New consultation system from 1 May 2019 onwards

From 1 May onwards, students must register for a consultation in Leiden or the Hague via an online appointment system. This ensures that you will definitely be able to speak to a student psychologist. Appointments will have a maximum duration of 30 minutes.
You can schedule an appointment for a date in May (or later) via the link to the online appointment system, which can be found in the contact block on the right-hand side of this webpage. This link will bring you to a calendar, where you can choose a date and time from the available options.

In case of urgent matters, you can contact our office via tel: 071-5278026 and leave your contact details. One of our psychologists will call you back as soon as possible.
