Our student psychologists are accessible and easy to approach. You are welcome to arrange a consultation to discuss any problems you might be experiencing.
Please note: Although the measures taken in the context of the Corona virus do not allow face to face consults, we continue offering our psychological services to students. Our student support will however continue remotely by phone of through video conference.
You are welcome to make an appointment for a first consult through our online appointment system.
If you have previously scheduled an appointment for a consult in Plexus or Beehive, the psychologists will contact you to arrange the appointment in an alternative manner.
The student psychologists can offer assistance and advice in both study-related and personal situations.
Who can visit a student psychologist?
The services of the student psychologists are intended for current registered students of Leiden University. If you are former, future or external student, or a PhD candidate, you are advised to contact your own health care professional.
How can a student psychologist help?
During your first consultation with the student psychologist, you will be given the opportunity to talk about your situation and discuss the best course of action. In some cases, you might find that one consultation is sufficient. The psychologist may be able to offer advice or provide information that helps you to resolve your difficulties. You may, for example, be advised to follow a workshop or training course in study skills or personal development. In other cases, the psychologist may offer you short-term individual guidance.
If the student psychologist concludes that more specialist or long-term support would be advisable, he/she will explain how you can arrange a referral from your doctor for help of this nature.
How can I arrange a consultation?
You can make an appointment for a consultation in Leiden or The Hague by using the online appointment system.
The system shows the available times for the next 3 weeks. Sometimes, many students wish to make an appointment in a certain time period. In these busy weeks it is possible that no, or only few times are visible in the appointment system. Then please try again later. The "visible" interval of 3 weeks moves up every day, showing new free dates and time slots every day.
In addition, appointments that are cancelled become available again. So please, remember to cancel your appointment if you are unable to keep your appointment.
First appointments are a maximum of 30 minutes. Please make your first appointment only in the online appointment system. If you require subsequent appointments, the Student Support Services desk will contact you to make arrangements.
