Some of Leiden University’s partner universities in Taiwan and Korea offer tuition fee waivers for summer schools. This means you are exempted from tuition fees but do still have to pay all other expenses. Please contact the International Relations department for more information.

Antwerp Summer University

Huawei Seeds for the Future Programme

Where:

Third-year undergraduate students majoring in ICT, engineering or a related field. Applicants must be Dutch nationals, under 30 years of age and have a GPA of at least 7.5.  A demonstrated affinity with China, fluency in English and a passion for ICT and engineering is essential.

Details:

Huawei Technologies Netherlands is generously offering 10 fully-financed study trips to excellent students of Leiden University, the University of Amsterdam, Eindhoven University of Technology and Twente University, who wish to broaden their academic training by visiting China and enrolling in a training programme at Huawei in Shenzhen. Your field of expertise must be directly related to ICT, encryption, and/or telecommunications engineering. 

Programme

  • Huawei Amsterdam: Company visit & pre-departure briefing introducing Huawei corporate culture (one whole day in July).
  • Flight - Amsterdam to Beijing.
  • 1-week intensive introduction to Chinese culture and language at Beijing Language and Culture University. 
  • Flight to Huawei Headquarters in Shenzhen.
  • 1-week training programme at Huawei HW. Chief engineers will deliver presentations on topics such as 4G connections, LTE devices, managing broadband and VOIP.  You will be divided into smaller groups and work on a case assignment which you will present to Huawei staff when back in the Netherlands.

Sichuan University Summer School: University Immersion Programme

Shanghai International Studies University (SISU) - Chinese Culture Summer Program 2019: Feeling China; An Exploration of Chinese Culture

Fees SISU is generously offering up to three scholarship places for this programme for Leiden University students.

Tsinghua Summer School: Experiencing China

This summer school at one China’s top university offers small interactive classes in seven different areas, in a Chinese context, namely:

Participants will engage in keynote lectures, project discussions, interactive workshops and site visits with fellow students from more than 50 countries and regions across the world. Fees and application Tsinghua University offers two scholarships to Leiden University students. The scholarship covers:

Institut de Français langue étrangère summer courses - University of Nantes

Where: Nantes, France

Details:

Intensive French courses of two to six weeks  duration, consisting of four to five class days per week.

Bayreuth International Summer School

Details: The Bayreuth International Summer School 2019 consists of eight different courses held over the same time period. International summer school - Current developments on financial crime, corruption and money laundering: European and international perspectives
