If you look outside, everyone seems to be having fun. At the same time, many people (43%) deal with loneliness. How can this be? During this event, we will have look together at what might be uncomfortable to admit: what it means to feel lonely. There will be an open space for participants to share their own stories and to find recognition and community in those who likewise have experience with it. Past groups have learned that participants feel sharing their feelings lifts a weight off their shoulders. Not feeling adequate connection and love is a widespread hurt which one shouldn’t be ashamed of. It deserves to be spoken about. Dardan, an organiser of meditation groups at Rapenburg100, is a trained ‘experience expert’ and will share his experiences and ideas which range from some statistics about loneliness to what philosophers have said about the topic. During the workshop, we will practice a simple method of dialogue to keep the discussion on point.

How do you maintain your motivation and deal with problems in Covid times? This interactive online workshop series enables you to learn from the circumstances and develop personal leadership. We all need a sense of where we are going in life and our purpose is. Normally we take this for granted, but the world in this Corona era has changed. Due to Covid restrictions we depend more on our inner social circles. Lacking the inspiration of collaboration and new encounters, it may be difficult to keep ourselves motivation. Nevertheless, this can be also productive. In this series of three meetings we will discuss useful philosophical insights for living through this period. You will learn about the different phases of a crisis, and how to be open to new perspectives. Letting go of old expectations allows us to find new motivation, which will be valuable long after the crisis.

Please note: this activity consists of three sessions:

Tuesday 19 January 15.00 – 16.30
Tuesday 26 January 15.00 – 16.30
Tuesday 2 February 15.00 – 16.30

If you sign up for this activity, we expect you to take part in all sessions.

Eating well is extremely important for both your physical and mental wellbeing. However, things didn't get any easier during the pandemic. Ordering food, paying less attention to what you eat or snacking more often are habits we have become all too familiar with. However, this can have an impact on the well-being of your body and your wallet!
During the cooking class we will prepare some easy, healthy and cheap recipes that you can use to get through the lockdown. Make sure you have the ingredients (which we’ll send you in advance) ready at the start of the cooking class and let’s cook together!

Do you feel like slowing down and taking a rest from a life that feels like ‘rush hour’? Do you feel the time has come to take a silent
moment away from daily routines and constant encounters? Take an afternoon break and join us for a short silent retreat, experience the power of silence during an afternoon walk, and enjoy an experience that enhances personal insights and self-knowledge, allowing you to better notice the state of your mind and your body. We will meet at Rapenburg 100 for the start of the afternoon and start by practicing various mindful meditations (such as body scans and breathing exercises). Then, for a part of the afternoon, you will enjoy a silent walk, after which we will gather to share our experiences and insights. Silent retreat is a great way to maintain your mindfulness. For this retreat we do recommend that you already have some affinity with mindfulness practice.

What does studying with a disability mean for you? What obstacles do you have to encounter and how do you deal with them?

Join your fellow students with disabilities in this conversation and meet new people who may be experience exactly the same as you do!

This session is organised by the Access & Support Platform (ASP), a network of students and staff with disabilities. If there is anything we can supply to facilitate your participation, please inform us along with your registration for the meeting.
