In case someone else has tested positive

What to do yourself?

In case you have been in contact with someone who tested positive, for example in the classroom, there are two different situations:

1. Are you protected against Covid-19, for example because you have been fully vaccinated? In that case, you don’t need to quarantine and you can continue to attend class. Please self-test every day for the coming 5 days minimum and in any case before coming to campus, and watch your own health closely. If you have symptoms or a positive self-test, stay home and get tested at the GGD. Detailed information on when you are protected can be found here.

2. Are you not protected? In this case, you have to stay home and quarantine if the positive person is a close contact. You have to quarantine for at least 5 days. If you get tested negative by the GGD on day 5 you can stop quarantining. Detailed information about quarantining and the definition of ‘close contact’ can be found here. Please consider to get vaccinated.

What happends to the class?

In case someone who has tested positive reports that they have attended class in the two days before the positive test or symptoms, we will inform the instructor and the students in those classes. As per the guidelines above those who are vaccinated can still continue attending class, but they need to self-test before coming to class. All those who are not vaccinated should stay home when they were a close contact (spent more than 15 minutes at less than 1.5m distance with this person). If the infected person does not consent to disclose their name to the group, everyone should be deemed a close contact.

In case of multiple infections within a group, LUC will work closely together with the instructor and with the relevant parties in the University (FGGA, safety department) and if needed with the GGD, in order to decide whether the whole class should move online or not.

Instructors who hear from a student that they tested positive, should encourage the student to complete the form so that the relevant people are informed. Please contact the Operational Manager when in doubt.

The instructor may live stream the class to those students absent for corona-related reasons (see other document).
