Looking for a helping hand finding your way through your study programme and student life? Having doubts about your approach of your study programme or do you want to develop your skills?
Do you want to get more out of your student days and contribute to helping your fellow students? In all these cases, the POPcorner is the right place for you! We think it is important that everyone can make a good start. The POPcorner Humanities helps you to find your way within the university, faculty and study programme. We also facilitate activities that allow you to work on your personal and professional development.
Studying at a university is fun and can also be a challenge. You attend lectures, you study the material, you learn for exams, you make assignments and then there are all kinds of practical matters that you have to arrange. In addition, as a student you have a life outside the university that demands a lot from you. Think of social obligations, a household, a possible job on the side or membership of an association. Perhaps you are the first in your family to go to university in the Netherlands and this is still quite a search. Perhaps you have personal circumstances that demand a lot of your energy or even make studying extra complicated. You may experience stress or feel lonely. Or maybe you have extra energy that you want to put into a project for your fellow students.
Whatever your starting point may be, you are very welcome at the POPcorner Humanities. We are a meeting place for and by students where you can make contacts, follow workshops, organise activities and where your story is listened to.
Do you have questions about, for example, motivation, your mental and physical wellbeing, procrastination, an effective way of studying, time management, how you can best prepare for an exam, or do you have any other questions? Feel free to drop by during our online walk-in consultation hour!
You can find us online via TEAMS on Monday to Thursday between 12:00 - 13:00. Click this link to join our POPby channel (log in with Sfirstname.lastname@example.org) and then press "Join".
Testimonial of a student
The POPcorner helped me a lot during my studies. From starting first-generation students to confident BA students. The POPcorner has been the reason I've found my footing in the minefield called "university".
The POPTalks were informative and a genuinely fun way to get in touch with other students. And the workshops are highly recommended for every student. Time management is so often underestimated by students, but is so incredibly important. The methods that are presented to you in Effective Studying are also of great importance to every student. Here, you will not only learn how to make studying easier but also how to do it smarter. You also learn how to maintain your concentration while studying. What was also really useful for me was the Making Exams workshop. As a student with a terrible fear of failure, I learned here how I could better prepare for exams so that I became less stressed and insecure before, during and after my exams.
I advise every student to visit the POPcorner at least once. Not only is it very educational, but the atmosphere is also very nice. It truly is a place where everyone is welcome!

'Because of minimal physical lectures and social contact on campus I wanted to use these workshops to my advantage. They were given in small groups with interactive assignments. Everyone listened and contributed ideas. The POPcorner has helped me on many different personal aspects i.e. with confidence in my studies and motivation. I have experienced the workshops as educational and relevant.'
