Research traineeship

The Research Traineeship Programme gives students the opportunity to be part of a research project within the Faculty of Humanities.

The research trainees of the programme work on a research project together with two researchers from the academic staff. During their traineeship, students may for instance work on databases, investigate manuscripts, develop an app, conduct an experiment or publish an article. They may also present their findings at an (international) conference.

Practical Information

The Research Traineeship Programme starts every year in February. Students work for 5,7 hours (0,15 fte) per week for 7 months. Projects are either in English or Dutch. Students receive monthly payment for their participation in the Research Traineeship Programme. They  have to be registered with Leiden University as a student at the Faculty of Humanities for the duration of the traineeship. New projects will be published every year in November.

Who can apply?

The programme is designed for motivated students who want to gain experience in academic research. Third-year Bachelor's students and (Research) Master's students of the Faculty of Humanities at Leiden University  are invited to apply for a position in one of the projects.
