Ter gelegenheid van zijn eerste lustrum zal het Hazelhoff Centre for Financial Law op 11 mei 2017 een lustrumcongres organiseren met als thema ‘Public and private regulation of financial markets’.

Het College van Bestuur heeft Dr. Johannes Magliano-Tromp met ingang van 1 mei 2016 benoemd tot directeur van het Leiden University Dual PhD Centre.

Sinds begin dit jaar bestaat het LDE-Centre Governance of Migration and Diversity, dat met een multidisciplinaire blik naar bestuurs- en beleidsvraagstukken in vier Zuid-Hollandse steden kijkt. Bijzonder is dat er al afgestudeerde masterstudenten op dit specialistische gebied rondlopen.

Als alles naar verwachting gaat, zal Vasileios Karakasis zijn proefschrift op donderdag 15 oktober met succes verdedigen. Daarmee wordt niet alleen voor Vasileios een mijlpaal bereikt, maar ook voor het Dual PhD Centre (DPC).

Judith Pollmann en Henk te Velde kregen uit de Vrije Competitie Geesteswetenschappen van NWO de middelen voor een project getiteld The persistence of civic identities in the Netherlands, 1747-1848.

Twee Centres van de Leiden-Delft-Erasmus-alliantie gaan onderzoek uitvoeren met een Maatschappelijk Verantwoord Innoveren-subsidie van NWO.

Op 7 juli opende de eerste vestiging van het Open Science Centre-netwerk in het Portugese Figueira de Castelo Rodrigo. Een minister en een staatssecretaris inaugureerden het platform, een samenwerkingsproject tussen Universiteit Leiden en de gemeente van Figueira de Castelo Rodrigo.

Studenten van de Universiteit Leiden kunnen vanaf dit najaar in Den Haag terecht bij een studentencentrum. Het gebouw biedt onder meer ruimte aan studentenorganisaties, sportactiviteiten en ondersteunende diensten.
