Faculty and study programme regulations
At faculty and study programme level there are various regulations in place to ensure that everything runs as it should. For example, there are thesis and faculty regulations, as well as rules and guidelines on assessments, exams, degree classifications and plagiarism.
As a student, the most important regulations you will come across in terms of your education are your study programme's ‘Course and Examination Regulations’ (known as OER in Dutch).
Course and Examination Regulations (OER)
Each study programme has its own Course and Examination Regulations (OER). These regulations are set by the Faculty Board. The Course and Examination Regulations contain the most important rights and obligations of students with regard to matters such as:
- the purpose and content of a study programme
- the period of validity of examination grades
- methods of examination
- exemptions and admission requirements
- study support and guidance

Examination Rules and Regulations (R&R)
The Examination Regulations and Guidelines of the Bachelor’s and Master’s programmes contain all rights and obligations of students, lecturers and the faculty with regard to all matters concerning examinations. These Regulations & Guidelines are partly autonomous and are partly supplementary to the Course and Examination Regulations (OER). The content of the Examination Regulations and Guidelines is the exclusive and official statutory responsibility of the Examination Boards. They apply to all programmes taught at Leiden Law School.
