Content
You make felt using nothing more than wool, water, soap, and your hands. In this course, you will experience the ancient technique of felting. Loose wool transforms into a solid textile under your hands. In three lessons, you will learn various felting techniques, such as making flat felt, 3D felt, and working with coarse wool. In each of the lessons, you will be challenged to create your own designs.

No prior felting experience is required.

Bring your own: an old towel and a plastic bag.

The course includes the use of materials during the lessons.

Teacher
Margot van Leeuwen (VIVAVILT | Handmade felt art) is a textile designer who has been working with wool for many years. Initially with soft Australian Merino wool, but nowadays primarily with local wool from various breeds. She creates wall panels and acoustic panels commissioned by interior architects.

“Feeling the wool transform into a textile under your hands is a magical process. Wool has so many special properties. The fleeces shorn from sheep that I use in my work have no economic value and are often thrown away. With love and great patience, I turn them into a beautiful work of art that brings nature into the home. I dye my wool myself using plants from my garden. That adds an extra dimension to my work.”
