About the lecture

According to the World Health Organization, suicide is among the leading causes of death worldwide, with more lives taken by suicide than by malaria, breast cancer, or war and homicide. Moreover, suicide rates among young people have markedly increased in several countries over the last decade. The time to act is now and we need to take suicide prevention more seriously. This lecture will give an outline of important facts & figures and will zoom in on actionable solutions, especially from the 113 Helpline. In the Netherlands, the helpline from 113 Suicide Prevention provides around-the-clock anonymous support by phone and chat, as well as online therapy and coaching.

Saskia Mérelle (epidemiologist) from 113 Suicide Prevention will share their insights in how to prevent suicides.
