Do we need a total ban on the exhibition of human remains? This subject is not only relevant in museums, but also in the public debate. Are you interested in this question and the considerations? In Rijksmuseum van Oudheden, different lecturers will take a look at this issue. Join us!

What and when

Join us on 21 May at 15:00 hrs at Rijksmuseum van Oudheden for an afternoon in which the university meets the museum.

Enjoy a lecture (in English) by Steph Scholten from the Hunterian Museum in Glasgow about the consideration of exhibiting human remains in (European) museums. After that there will be two more lectures from PhD-candidate Elsbeth Dekker and Curator Oceania, Worldmuseum and professor Art and Material Culture of Oceania Wonu Veys.

More editions

Does this sound like fun but you're not available on 21 May? No need to worry. This is part of a series of collaborations between various Leiden museums and Leiden University. Keep an eye on the student website for more activities involving the Wereldmuseum, Naturalis, and more.
