This year, Leiden University has appointed Professor Frank van Vree, professor emeritus of War, Conflict and Memory Studies, of the University of Amsterdam to the Cleveringa Chair.
In his inaugural lecture titled The Ritualisation of the Past. On the ‘Lesson of History’ for the Present he will speak about the tension between learning from the past and remembering the past.
