During your studies you'll acquire a good theoretical basis. But what about practical experience? By doing an internship you can gain a clearer picture of a particular position or sector. For some study programmes an internship is a compulsory part of the curriculum.

Our students have much to offer both public and private organisations. Therefore, FGGA wants to match students and organisations more effectively by developing a new internship tool: TRAIL.
Benefits of TRAIL
- As all internship vacancies for FGGA students are brought together in one place, students easily find the internship that suits them;
- The platform also offers the possibility of providing short-term projects and part-time internships;

On our Internships Brightspace page (as a student of our programme, you will be automatically added) we regularly post vacancies specifically for Security Studies students. Feel free to reach out to all organizations mentioned on this page, regardless of the date of the vacancy deadline. We receive regular vacancies from, for example:
- The Dutch Airforce (Woensdrecht)
- The Royal Marechaussee (Schiphol)
- The National Police
- COT (Insitute for Security and Crisismanagement)
- The HALO Trust
TRAIL Internship database
Besides the vacancies for Security Studies students, you can look at the TRAIL Internship database. Here you can find vacancies for all FGGA students, so you do have more competition. Organizations which use this database are, for example:
- The Hague Centre for Strategic Studies
- Security Delta (HSD)
- Breinstein
- Europol
- Nederlands Instituut voor Publieke Veiligheid
You are also allowed to do your internship abroad, at an embassy for example. In that case, do not forget to inform the international office about your plans. This year we had students going to Qatar, Estonia, Germany, Ireland, Canada and even Curacao. On Brightspace you can find their reports.
