Video: who decides the rules of space?
At LDE Space & Society, students explore everything the universe has to offer. From the technical frontiers of space to the rules that govern it: space law.
During the LDE Space & Society Honours Programme, students work towards a Space Challenge: an issue concerning humans and space, which they tackle together with students from different disciplines in an attempt to come up with innovative solutions. The students first attend a series of lectures to prepare for the Challenge. In so-called Fundamentals, they learn about space exploration, technology, space law and business administration.
This lecture: international space law. What do you need to know to launch a satellite? And who cleans up space debris? The students share their experiences, and Dr Tanja Masson-Zwaan discusses the creativity and rapid growth that are central to space law.

The LDE Space & Society Honours Programme is an honours programme for second- and third-year bachelor's students at Leiden University, Delft University of Technology and Erasmus University Rotterdam. The three universities also offer a joint honours programme on sustainability.
