Master Honours Classes & Challenges
Do you want to take on an extra challenge during your master's? Master Honours Classes & Challenges are small-scale, interdisciplinary courses that teach you more about tackling complex issues.
Interdisciplinary honours education
In Master Honours Classes & Challenges, you will meet and work with students of other academic disciplines. On top of that, you will come into contact with theories from outside your own academic field. This way, you learn to think out of the box and gain experience with cooperating with different kinds of people – a useful skill for life after university.

Theory and practice
Courses offered as part of the Master Honours Classes & Challenges (5 or 10 EC) all combine theory and practice. However, they differ in their salience and educational methods.
- Some courses intertwine theory and practice within a specific theme. You dive into theories to better understand how a complex issue for society – or for specific groups therein – can be tackled. In small-scale, innovative classes you look for solutions for the stakeholders involved.
- Other courses are specifically aimed at gaining practical experience in an organisation. You work on the practical challenge of a partner organisation, such as a societal organisation, municipality or company. In small interdisciplinary teams, you investigate the problem, design solutions and present them.
Courses on offer
What courses are currently on offer, and to what extent they are theory-based or project-based, can be found in the prospectus.
Study credits and certification
Master Honours Classes & Challenges are worth 5 or 10 EC. Upon successful completion, you will receive a certificate and have your course mentioned on your diploma supplement as an extracurricular course.
