De Scriptieprijs 18e Eeuw gaat dit jaar naar alumna Literary Studies Azinat Abubakari. Haar helder geschreven scriptie over de wisselwerking tussen gender en ras in Franse literaire werken uit de late achttiende en vroege negentiende eeuw gooide hoge ogen.

Van 7-9 juni 2023 organiseert Global Transformations and Governance Challenges (GTGC) haar tweede internationale conferentie in Den Haag. Deadline voor inzendingen: 15 februari 2023.

Many of our department’s staff members are actively involved in the Empirical Legal Studies lab and strive towards publishing impactful empirical legal research.

Dr. Henk Schulte Nordholt, verbonden aan het KITLV en het LIAS, is benoemd tot bijzonder hoogleraar Indonesische geschiedenis voor een periode van vijf jaar.

De nieuwe Leiden Jewish Studies Association heeft tot doel om wetenschappers die zich bezighouden met het jodendom bij elkaar te brengen. Op 6 en 7 december vindt het eerste congres plaats. Leidse hoogleraren en oprichters van de LJSA, Sarah Cramsey en Jürgen Zangenberg, vertellen over hun plannen.

Hoogleraar Archeometrie Patrick Degryse analyseert archeologische vondsten met behulp van technieken uit de chemie, natuurkunde en biologie. Hij spreekt op 19 februari zijn oratie uit. We lieten hem reflecteren op drie opvallende stellingen uit zijn oratietekst.
