About this lecture
Scholarship has become increasingly attentive to how intersecting identities in terms of race and class play into the dynamics of sexual violence as well as policy effects. This lecture explores these intersections and their importance for our understanding of gender-based violence.
Following the lecture, Workshop 3 – Survey Design will be held. This workshop complements the theoretical content by offering a hands-on opportunity to engage with key methodological tools used to study gender-based violence. The aim is not only to develop students’ technical understanding of survey design but also to critically reflect on how theoretical concepts, political commitments, and ethical considerations shape the process of measurement. Students
will engage with practical questions around operationalisation, temporality, and question wording, while also examining the limits of surveys in capturing the complexity of violence.
