Content
Have you ever wanted to write but didn't know where to start? Or have you always jotted down your thoughts in notebooks and you would like to give them shape? Or perhaps you are looking for a community of writers with whom you can share your writing in a supportive and safe environment?

Whether you are a beginner or just want a refresher, this workshop will guide you through some of the fundamentals of creative writing. Together we will explore different writing themes, genres, and techniques to boost your imagination. You don't need to focus on writing fiction or nonfiction. The idea is to help you find the best way to express yourself or tell the stories you've always wanted to tell.

We will read various texts and each other’s work closely to develop our ability to think critically, explore multiple meanings, improve clarity and structure, and read like writers.

Creative writing is very useful to gain confidence in how you communicate your thoughts and a great way to improve your writing skills in general. It's never too late to give it a try, come on in!

Returning writers will be offered new exercises or updated versions of the prompts, and now you can also join Creative Writing II: Start Writing Your Book.

WHAT PARTICIPANTS ARE SAYING:

This course changed my writing. I came in with strong instincts but without the craft framework to develop them. The arc from "Basic Ingredients to Have Fun Writing" through to the final reading felt genuinely structured, each session built on the last, from character to conflict to shape to sound to endings. I'm now submitting work to competitions, something I wouldn't have considered before. A.

I really enjoyed it, it got me excited to write. I loved the little in-class exercises and I am impressed that you were able to build a safe place for us to feel comfortable to share our work. I really liked the diversity of prompts and readings. A.

I enjoyed it quite a bit and it really helped me to get in the process and actually write something at least semi-regularly in draft form. A.

I can recommend this course, even if you think you want to write on your own. Creative writing becomes a lot stronger and developed when it has been shared with a group of people. A.

I have learned so much through just 8 lessons and I am grateful I have such a kind and patient but also knowledgeable teacher. I am definitely signing up for Creative Writing II! A.
