Abstract
Over the past ten years, the analysis of ancient proteins preserved in a variety of archaeological, palaeontological and palaeoanthropological materials, including the skeletal remains of hominin and human fossils, has slowly gained traction. In this talk, some of the backgrounds to how we can study ancient proteins will be introduced. Next, the insights of recent applications of this approach demonstrate the potential insights these ancient proteins provide, from resolving evolutionary questions about human evolution to detailed and more complex insights into their daily lives.
