Issue with multi-factor authentication (MFA) via email

28 July 2026

Update 11 August 2026

The issue with MFA by email has been resolved. For more than a week now, verification codes have been delivered normally again. Our investigation found no signs of a problem within the university’s email system. The delays were probably caused by something outside the university’s control.

This message will now be closed. Any new developments will be reported on the malfunctions page.

Good to know

Using a push notification through the NetIQ app is still the fastest way to complete an MFA verification. You do not need to type or copy and paste a code.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

There is currently an issue with logging in using multi-factor authentication (MFA) by email. You may need MFA to access some university networks, websites, documents, and other university systems. Emails with the verification code may arrive late or not arrive at all. In some cases, the code arrives too late and has already expired.

Using MFA during the issue

If you were already connected to the university network before the issue started, you try to set up MFA in another way. If this does not work, please contact the ISSC Helpdesk.

You can find the latest updates about this issue on the malfunctions page.
