The [s]TATTOO Studio is coming to Leiden University – and we’d love your input on this artistic project about social safety.

What is [s]TATTOO?

How do you make difficult or sensitive topics easier to talk about? The pop-up 'tattoo shop,' developed by Art Partner and artist Maze de Boer, creates an open, welcoming space where students and staff can engage in conversation with a poet or visual artist. The artist listens, translates what they hear into an image, and turns each conversation into a small artwork – not on your skin, but engraved on an item of your choice (for example, a phone case, water bottle, or sticker). A beautiful, personal takeaway. The collected stories will also be anonymized and used in research on social safety at the university and where improvement is needed.

Register and join the conversation

This is one of the two inspiration sessions we're hosting before [s]TATTOO Studio launches in 2026, to explore what a meaningful focus for [s]TATTOO at our university could be. Where are the questions, curiosity or needs to listen to each other better? What is important to bring to the surface?

Can't make it on 11 November?

There will also be a session on 20 November from 10:00 tot 12:00 in Wijnhaven Building in The Hague. You can select this date in the form.
