Video: Who makes the rules in space?

At the LDE Space & Society Honours, students explore everything the universe has to offer. From the technical frontiers to the rules that govern it: space law.

In the LDE Space & Society Honours Programme, students work towards a Space Challenge: an issue concerning humans and space, which they tackle together with students from different disciplines in an attempt to come up with innovative solutions. The students first attend a series of lectures to prepare for the Challenge. In so-called Fundamentals, they dive into various topics: space exploration, technology, governance, business administration.

And in this lecture: international space law. When are you allowed to launch a satellite? And who cleans up space debris? The students share their experiences, and teacher Tanja Masson-Zwaan discusses the creativity and rapid growth that are central to the field of space law.
