Our student psychologists are very accessible and easy to approach. You are welcome to come by to discuss any problems you might have during open consultation hours.
The support offered by the student psychologists is intended primarily for full and part-time students of Leiden University, not for guests, external and prospective students, PhD candidates or alumni.
Open consultation hours in Leiden
Students of Leiden University who are experiencing study-related or personal problems are welcome to visit a student psychologist during open consultation hours. These take place from Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, between 11:00 and 11:45 hrs. Please register at Student Support Services, Kaiserstraat 25. There may be more than one student waiting to see the psychologist so you will generally have ten to fifteen minutes to talk about your situation. There is a maximum number of students that can be seen during the consultation hours, so make sure to register on time.
After explaining your situation to the psychologist, you will discuss the best possible course of action. Sometimes one visit, a few tips and some information is sufficient. Sometimes you might be advised to follow a workshop or training course, for example in study skills or personal development. In some cases you may be offered short-term individual guidance.
The student psychologist can also give advice about referral to other organisations or professionals, if more specialist or long-term support is required. In this case you will also need a referral from your doctor.
