Are you passionate about supporting prospective first-generation students at the beginning of their educational journey? Leiden University is organizing the "Start je Toekomst" (Start Your Future) event, and we are looking for volunteers to make this event special for all participants and their caregivers.

Event details

This event is dedicated for first-generation students and their caregivers who had no chance to experience university before. During the event, we will organize information and social sessions to help them familiarize with university environment and boost their first moments in academic life.

• Date: July 5, 2025 (Saturday)
• Time: 9:00 to 15:00

Volunteer responsibilities: The event takes place in a few locations, and exact tasks will be distributed depending on the time and location. In general, tasks may include:

• Preparing rooms and locations for the event
• Guiding groups to their designated areas
• Distributing lunch, welcome packs, brochures etc. for students and caregivers
• Executing other simple tasks based on the situation

• Free lunch and social drinks after the event with other volunteers and coordinators
• After the event you will be given a €30 VVV-voucher as a thank you gift (or €15 for half of a day)

Shifts and attendance: You shift will take approximately three or six hours. Please note that punctuality is highly important and we need volunteers spread across the whole event duration.

Language requirement: We are looking for both English and Dutch speakers. Some tasks will require communicating in Dutch, so knowledge of Dutch is a bonus.
