Saturday 31 January and Sunday 1 February: no access to university network, buildings closed

13 January 2026

On Saturday 31 January from 06:00 hrs to Sunday 1 February 24:00 hrs, the university network will be offline for planned maintenance. Please be aware that the buildings, libraries, and ICT systems of the university will probably not be accessible during maintenance work.

This will have the following consequences:

  • During the maintenance work, the university website will (temporarily) be offline.
  • Both at home and at the university, you will not have access to the university network during maintenance activities.
  • All applications, systems and websites that require you to log in with your ULCN credentials will NOT be available during the maintenance.
  • Wi-Fi connection via eduroam will NOT be possible.
  • You will be able to use Microsoft apps such as Outlook, Word, and Teams via microsoft365.com.
  • Are you a researcher? Please note that you may not be able to access your research installations during network maintenance.

What are your options? Be prepared

Make sure that you download all the information and data in advance that you may need to use during the weekend.

Tip

Plan your work so that you will not need access to the university network and university buildings on Saturday 31 January 2026 and Sunday 1 February 2026.

Working remotely

The university network will not be available and Remote Workplace (Citrix) will not be working. Microsoft 365, OneDrive and Teams will be available, both the app and the web versions.

Do you have any questions?

Please contact the ISSC Helpdesk before 31 January via the helpdesk portal, via helpdesk@issc.leidenuniv.nl, or +31 (0)71 527 8888.

Please note: on 31 January and 1 February the Helpdesk will also not be available.

Why this maintenance?

Parts of the network infrastructure require regular maintenance (2x per year) in order to guarantee that all staff and students can continue to make good and secure use of the university network.
